Sunny private room in a proper Astoria house near Ditmars — the good part of Astoria where it still feels like a neighborhood and every third storefront is a bakery. The room fits a full or queen, has a real closet (not a sad little alcove), and looks out over the back garden rather than the street, so it's quiet at night. You'd be sharing a two-floor house with three of us: a nurse, a grad student, and me (I do something boring in logistics and cook too much on Sundays). It's a warm, low-drama house — we share groceries loosely, trade the good leftovers, and generally keep to a 'clean up your own stuff same-day' rule that has kept the peace for two years. There's a backyard with a grill, a basement with laundry (in-unit, free), and a cat named Dumpling who will ignore you with great dignity. Ditmars is a fifteen-minute walk or a short bus; the N/W gets you to Midtown in about half an hour. Astoria Park and the pool are close, the Greek food is as good as everyone says, and you're a stumble home from some of the best cheap eats in Queens. Utilities split four ways come to about 0/month. Six-month minimum, no smoking indoors, and we'd love someone who's around enough to actually be part of the house.
